Mobile Darkroom — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-17

Mobile Darkroom does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. All processing happens locally on your iPhone or iPad. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party SDKs.

What data the app accesses

  • Photos you open. Mobile Darkroom reads the photos you choose from your photo library or the Files app, edits them non-destructively, and saves the result as a new copy — all entirely on your device. Your photos never leave your iPhone or iPad. Access is granted by you through the standard iOS photo picker and file dialogs.
  • Depth information. If a photo contains an embedded depth map (e.g. Portrait mode), the app can read it for depth-based effects. Alternatively, a depth map can be estimated locally with a bundled on-device model (Depth Anything V2 Small). Neither the photo nor the depth data is ever transmitted anywhere.

What the app does not do

  • No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting.
  • No advertising identifiers.
  • No third-party SDKs.
  • No accounts, sign-ups, or user identifiers.
  • No network access — the app works fully offline.

Exported photos

Edited photos are exported as new copies to your photo library or shared via the standard iOS share sheet — only when you choose to, and only to the destination you select. The original file is never modified.

App Store privacy

In App Store Connect, Mobile Darkroom is registered as Data Not Collected: no data is linked to the user, no data is used for tracking, and no data leaves the device.

Children

Mobile Darkroom is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from any user.

Changes to this policy

Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
