SpawnHere

New windows should appear where you are working. SpawnHere is a small native menu-bar utility that places a newly created app window on the display under your pointer — across browsers, editors, Finder, and other compatible Mac apps.

Purpose

One small fix for multi-display Macs

The display under your pointer

Move the pointer to the display where you want to work, then create a new window from the Dock, an app menu, or a keyboard shortcut. SpawnHere places it there automatically.

Works across apps

SpawnHere watches normal windows from compatible macOS apps instead of being tied to one browser or editor. Per-app switches let you opt out when needed.

Leaves transient UI alone

Dialogs, sheets, tool palettes, full-screen windows, and system interfaces stay untouched. SpawnHere only moves accessible standard windows.

Small, native, and private

A lightweight Swift menu-bar utility with no account, analytics, tracking, or network service. Window information stays on your Mac.

Installation

Ready in four steps

Download and install

Open the notarized DMG and drag SpawnHere to the Applications shortcut. Launch SpawnHere from Applications.

Allow Accessibility

Choose “Allow Accessibility…” from the SpawnHere menu and enable the app in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. macOS requires this permission before SpawnHere can detect and move other apps’ windows.

Point, then open

Move the pointer to the intended display and create a new window. The menu status changes to “Automatic placement active” when everything is ready.

Make it yours

Open SpawnHere Settings to start it automatically at login, disable placement for individual apps, or read the built-in guide.

SpawnHere is signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Accessibility access is used only to observe the creation and position of standard windows and to move them to the selected display. No window contents are read or transmitted.

Compatibility

Designed to be predictable

Most native AppKit and SwiftUI apps, browsers, and Electron apps expose movable standard windows through macOS Accessibility. Apps that do not expose their windows, games, remote desktops, dialogs, sheets, palettes, and full-screen windows are deliberately left alone.
