INDD2IDML attempts to recover Adobe InDesign documents as open IDML on macOS — locally, with several documented recovery paths and without requiring InDesign at runtime.
Recovery is not guaranteed. Some content can remain incomplete, flattened or missing. Always open and verify the result before production use; keep the original document unchanged.
What it does
One job, done well
Best-effort recovery
Reads selected INDD and related files and attempts to write structurally valid IDML. Complex, damaged or unsupported document structures may remain incomplete.
Uses supporting material
Can use an original IDML, packaged resources, a matching PDF or an embedded preview when those materials are available.
Local and inspectable
Processing stays on your Mac. The result folder includes the IDML and a report so you can review the chosen recovery path.
