What stays on your Mac
Analysis, genre detection, AI repair, mastering, the previews and the export run entirely on your Mac, without a server. Your audio files never leave your Mac. The app reads the files you open and writes exported files only to the location you choose.
Presets, projects and settings are stored locally in the app's sandbox container on your Mac, or in the location you choose when saving a project. LoudnessKit does not sync or transmit them.
No network connections
LoudnessKit makes no outgoing network connections. It sends no audio, no usage data and no crash reports to me or to third parties.
AI control (MCP server, optional)
LoudnessKit includes an MCP server that lets AI models running on your Mac control the app. It is off by default and starts only when you turn it on under Help ▸ Set Up AI Control. The server listens only on 127.0.0.1, which means it can be reached from this Mac only and not from the network.
Every request requires a bearer token. The token is created on your Mac and stored in your keychain; “Renew Token” invalidates older registrations. Through the server, LoudnessKit only reads and writes in folders you have shared; without a shared folder, this is ~/Music/LoudnessKit.
Which AI model you connect, and what that model or its provider does with data it receives, is outside LoudnessKit. For that, the privacy terms of the respective provider apply.
Shortcuts
The actions “Master Track” and “Analyze Track” for the Shortcuts app process the files you pass to them locally, in the same way as the app itself.
Links and email
Links in the app, for example to this website, open in your browser. A feedback link opens your email app. Only when you then send an email or visit a website does data reach me or the website's host; for this website, see the website privacy policy.
Purchase and download
LoudnessKit is distributed through the Mac App Store. Purchase, payment, download and updates are handled by Apple. I do not receive any payment details. These processes are subject to Apple's privacy policy.
If you have allowed macOS to share analytics with app developers (System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics & Improvements), Apple may provide me with crash reports and usage statistics without personal identifiers. This is a function of macOS, not of LoudnessKit, and you can turn it off there at any time.
