Heightmap — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-09
Heightmap does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. All processing happens locally on your Mac. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party SDKs.
What data the app accesses
- Images you open. Heightmap reads the photos you choose, generates a depth/height map, and lets you export the result — all entirely on your Mac. Your images never leave your device. File access is granted by you through the standard macOS open/save dialogs.
- App preferences. Your settings and presets are stored locally on your Mac via the
standard
UserDefaultsAPI. They remain on your Mac and are not synced or transmitted by Heightmap.
What the app does not do
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting.
- No advertising identifiers.
- No third-party SDKs.
- No accounts, sign-ups, or user identifiers.
Network access
Heightmap makes network connections only when you choose to download an optional depth model. In that case a standard file download is requested from the model's public source (Hugging Face). No personal data is transmitted, and the app works without this — a default model is bundled with the app.
Exported files
Exported files (16-bit PNG/TIFF and the JSON sidecar) are written only to the location you select via the system save dialog.
App Store privacy
In App Store Connect, Heightmap is registered as Data Not Collected: no data is linked to the user, no data is used for tracking, and no data leaves the device.
Children
Heightmap is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from any user.
Changes to this policy
Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
